Bank to offer more free cash machines

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

So I was listening to BBC Radio 4 today and was pleased to hear that there are going to be 600 more free ATMs in areas that currently don't have access to them. Here is a government press release.

A representative from the banking industry was on hand to 'big up' the efforts being made by the 'working group' of banks to give these people access to their own money. Now lets get this straight. These people are being given access to their own money! Why, can I ask, do they not have access to their own money already? The banks in their drives to make more money closed the local branches!

I'm glad that this working committee has decided to forgo some of their profits in order to help people... or provide a basic service that society requires of them. I'm glad that they are making money and employing people and helping businesses start and paying share holders and of course making money. I don't deny their right to make money. I DO however deny them the right to make publicity from them offering ATMs where they once offered branches.

True Believer Celebrates this Festive Season

A dude makes a Flying Spaghetti Monster christmas light and sticks it outside his house. I really like the effort to make it as "...noodletomically correct as possible". It shows true commitment to making people happy.

All hail the mighty Flying Spaghetti Monster. I hope to one day be touched by its noodley appendage.

Wozniak: Keeping the dream alive

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

It's really hard to keep the dream alive as you get older. Other priorities like family and friends increasingly take you time and attention. The feeling that nothing is new creeps in. Nothing feels exciting any more. All the adventure of life just disappears. Steve Wozniak seems to have defied these negative forces for the last 50 years. Here is a really interesting and long interview of Woz by Guy Kawasaki
